Jim McDonnell, president and founder of Patrick James, Inc., has over 35 years of experience in the custom carpet and handmade rug industry. He works closely with design professionals throughout the United States, and abroad, to design, develop, and deliver fine handmade rugs and custom carpet. He is well-regarded as an expert in his field. Throughout his career, he has focused on developing and implementing domestic and international sales and marketing programs for the A+D industry.

Patrick is a fourth-generation expert in fine carpets and rugs, continuing a proud family legacy rooted in design and craftsmanship. Raised in Atlanta and immersed in the world of interiors from an early age, Patrick draws on a deep understanding of textiles, color, and spatial composition to guide clients through the custom rug and carpet process with clarity and confidence.

As Sales Director at Patrick James, he combines a discerning eye for quality with a client-first approach—whether working with interior designers, architects, or homeowners. Known for his thoughtful communication, attention to detail, and commitment to service, Patrick helps clients navigate every step, from concept to installation, ensuring each piece is as functional as it is beautiful.
